Good antidepressant(Jesse)
I had heard about this herb awhile ago, but had never tried it. I always remembered that it had effects on dopamine, which is how many addictive substances work. At first it had an effect or high similar to these substances, which greatly improved my mood. Over the past few weeks I have taken no more than two a day and the original strong effects have faded just as they do with other antidepressants that I had taken years ago (I haven't used them for 4 or 5 years). However, in general I still feel more energetic and normal than I did before taking them. Even got really interested in bodybuilding since taking it, which may be related to the herb or not. Supposedly it does affect HGH levels...which is probably a good thing.
I started taking it because I wanted to stop using tobacco. It probably doesn't say that this herb can be used for that purpose by anybody anywhere on the Internet or on earth, but it's my own theory, and it seems to me that tobacco withdrawal is a form of depression. And check this out, mucuna pruriens contains nicotine as well. But it is not addictive. It is very much like an antidepressant. Did it work with the tobacco cravings? Well, I stopped dipping since taking it, but have continued to use nicotine lozenges. A pleasant combination, I would say, but still no cure.
I haven't tried any other dopa products, but this one definitely has noticeable effects. One thing I will note is that it may cause dilated pupils in some individuals. I couldn't find anybody who said that before I bought it, but it does cause this. Might be good to know. Otherwise not many other side effects, but still be careful, because a lot of antidepressants can have bad side effects, including suicide. Still I would say this is a good natural alternative to some of those for mild depression or general tiredness, and I liked it.
Great Stuff
I NEVER write reviews for amazon products but this stuff is so good I had to give my testimony. I have suffered with ADHD (nodiagnosed) for most for most of my life. I had never had it medicated but noticed my concentration skyrocketed upon taking up pipe smoking. The problem was that I came to become a little too dependent (though still not addicted) to pipe smoking as it increased my concentration and make me feel more "normal" and less flighty. I was concerned about taking this because I was afraid I'd get addicted. I have never been more pleasantly surprised than to find out that this stuff is non-addictive. I am really busy and often forget to even take it and experience no negative side effects. The effects I do notice when I take it however are more energy, increased concentration, a more positive "buffered" attitude (things still logically bother me but emotionally I let things slide), more confidence, and possibly a higher libido. I sometimes take one a day and sometimes two so I really can't speak of dosage as I'm not consistent but this stuff has made my life noticeably better.
Good quality at a good price(Greatgooglymugly)
I have tried 3 or 4 different brands of Mucuna Pruriens, and this is one of- if not the- best. I am still skeptical to buy the brands that dont advertise ther percentage of their extract, so I am glad to see that informing the customer is important to NOW.
Really helps with producrion of Dopamine naturally, a nice adjunct to presciption medication for MS related fatigue, E. Swenson "esoterik1967" (Denver, CO)
I have Multiple Sclerosis and one of the debilitating symptoms is MS related fatigue. My Neurologist prescribes Adderall to help combat this. With Adderall and other drugs like it, it pumps extra Dopamine in your brain (hence risk of addiction) then after the medication wears off you are left with a shortage of Dopamine. This product really helps in the acceleration of production of more Dopamine (being a precursor) to replenish what the powerful prescription medication does to accelerate the usage of Dopamine, using it up. I have found that staggering my Adderall every other day and then using Dopa Mucuna in between the Adderall days has been very helpful. It seems to eliminate any addictive type cravings for the Amphetamine Adderall. A nice balance because I do not appear to be developing a tolerance to my medication as well. I am happy that a natural substance works so well with my prescription medication.

NOW DOPA Mucuna 90 Vcaps - This naturally occuring amino alcohol is produced in minuscule amounts by the brain, with higher concentrations being typically found in anchovies and sardines. Known primarily as a precursor to choline and acetylcholine (chemicals in the brain responsible for nerve transmissions and cognitive function), DMAE has been used most predominantly to improve memory and focus while stimulating neural activity. Many researchers believe that it may serve an anti-aging function by increasing the body's capacity to produce acetylcholine – a deficiency commonly associated with memory loss.
